Water Walker

Conceived, prototyped and built in the early 1980s, the water walker catamaran was the ultimate in camp-cruiser family fun. The catamaran’s hull was constructed from inflatable pods connected by a hexagonal platform. The platform was created from a collapsible, aluminum pole structure. From there wheels (which also function as leeboards) were added for easy beach launching. A single, boomless sail completed the carefree picture - just load up the kids and go. When you weren’t sailing, you could pitch a tent on the platform - either on land or at anchor. And of course the whole package packs down to load on the cartop of a compact car.
